Statement of Support and Documentation
In a few sentences, tell why this person belongs in the National High School Track and Field Hall of Fame.

William J. (Bill) Miller contributed high school track stories to the NY Times for some 60 years, starting in the '50s. His articles, especially in the early years, put HS track on the sports map, and helped keep it there well into the internet era. He had the longest tenure of any Times sports writer. Bill had a grand style that could be admired but not imitated. He was a pioneer and mentor to others including Marc Bloom. Bill generously gave Marc his break at the Times in the mid-60s.
