In a few sentences, tell why this person belongs in the National High School Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Michael Granville belongs in the High School Hall of Fame because of his amazing run in the 800 meters. He is the current National High School record holder in that distance with a time of 1:46.45 set at the California State Championship in 1996.

After that race, Granville held every class record to date:

Freshman all-time best, 1993- 1:51.03

Sophomore all-time best, 1994 - 1:48.98

Junior all-time best, 1995 - 1:47.96

Senior all-time best, 1996 - 1:46.45

Granville also had the indoor national record at 1:50.55 (1995)

In 1996, he was awarded the Gatorade Athlete of the Year for Track and Field, and, competed in the 1996 Olympic Trials in Atlanta.

In 2015, Granville was named to the California Interscholastic Federation's All-Century Team.

He is currently the Head Coach for Track and Field/Cross Country at Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, Ca.
